Matchtech is working with the Water Management Consortium to recruit a Graduate Engineer to assist them with their extensive workload which includes a £36m capital works programme in the Lincolnshire area.

The Job

Matchtech is working with the Water Management Consortium to recruit a Graduate Engineer to assist them with their extensive workload which includes a £36m capital works programme in the Lincolnshire area.

Reporting to a Senior Civil Engineer, the Graduate Engineer will support multidisciplinary projects across the Consortium as part of a wider team.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering including design, specification, documentation, and drawings for multidisciplinary engineering projects across the Consortium Boards' areas including asset repair and replacements.
  • Maintain design standards including designer risk assessments.
  • Support in the development and implementation of call off or framework contracts for various specialist activities.
  • Co-ordination with specialist colleagues to ensure technical excellence in projects.
  • Support in the management of investigations, consultations, liaisons and notifications for engineering projects.
  • Support in tender evaluations.
  • Ensure that all record drawings are current, maintain asset database, reflect any changes made during inspections and report on required works or amendments to strategic investment plans.
  • Assist in the prioritisation of all project delivery and in securing Flood Defence Grant in Aid and other partnership funding.
  • Provide drainage related technical advice and support to all Consortium staff, partner organisations and the public as required.
  • Participate in the out of hours Duty Rota as required.
  • Provide out of hours support in flood/heavy rainfall events.
  • Provide guidance, and support and develop the Apprentice role.
  • Any other tasks that you are capable of and might reasonably be expected to carry out.

Skills and experience

  • Approved technical qualification in civil engineering or similar discipline.
  • Confident, highly motivated, organised and accountable with a collaborative approach.
  • Positive, proactive and innovative approach to tackling and solving problems.
  • Ability to remain calm and think logically when working under pressure.
  • Team-player with good interpersonal skills.
  • Professional approach with the ability to engage effectively with contractors, customers and partners.
  • Knowledge of the land drainage industry.
  • Awareness of environmental constraints.
  • Experience in projects where water management is important.
  • Knowledge of the local areas.
  • Awareness of hydraulic modelling.
  • Experience in concept and detailed design of multidisciplinary water related engineering refurbishment projects.
  • Diverse engineering design and drawing experience.
  • Knowledge/experience with large-scale mechanical and electrical pumping installations.
  • Risk aware.
  • Clear understanding and proficient in the use of: MS Office based applications, databases, GIS systems, Asset management systems, CAD (AutoCAD or similar) drafting
