BA with a Financial Services industry background to support the IT Department, stakeholders, and client companies in the finding of solutions for complex financial system projects, helping to document, analyse CR's and project builds.

The Job

Business Analyst
Permanent | St Albans | Hybrid - 2/3 times a week in the office



Essential knowledge and experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within the Financial Services industry as a Business Analyst
  • Be efficient in producing business requirements, functional requirements, business rules, user requirements, non-functional requirements, implementation requirements, support/maintenance requirements and reports and specifications.
  • Financial services experience, ideally in the protection and investment space and financial regulations and our compliance in change delivery
  • Ability to work in a pressurised and fast-moving environment
  • Attention to detail and ability to achieve manage to deadline
  • Ability to adapt to change with a flexible approach
  • Proactive in driving business efficiencies and enhancements
  • Problem solving, root cause analysis, trouble shooting
  • Ability to take preventive rather than corrective action
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft applications
  • Facilitating meetings
  • Experience with managing stakeholders
  • Relevant business or systems analyst qualifications preferred
  • Working in an agile/waterfall/MoSCoW environment



Key Accountabilities:

  • Be flexible and pro-active in gathering and processing requirements to ensure objectives are met for the project and/or change request
  • Be able to take an outcome or business problem and with the wider IT team and other business areas, propose appropriate solutions
  • Work with external stakeholders to understand and investigate feedback into the service, function, or product
  • Prioritise and meet the demands of the business.
  • Creating and maintaining high quality technical specifications and end-user product documentation ensuring they are detailed and accurately reflect new/enhanced services agreed with client(s)
  • To work with IT Project team in gathering all the requirements and answer both internally and externally any technical queries
  • Able to lead and support cross functional business process re-engineering activities and continuous methodology improvement efforts
  • Successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Collaborate with developers and other SME to establish the technical vision required
  • Assist with implementation management and ensure engagement and readiness from all business areas on new changes
  • Attend internal and external meetings
  • For each change perform and document the solution, impact assessment, size and complexity and evaluate risks associated with the change
  • Consider opportunities and potential risks attached to suggestions and solutions
  • Recommendations to improve business efficiency
  • Assist in facilitating a successful release handover
  • Developing quality assurance practices and assessments
  • Facilitating and leading technical project meetings
  • Training end-users on new solutions where required
