Role:

The Research & Development Engineer will develop, support and manage application & deployment of new and existing processes and products across engineering, and support transition from engineering to manufacture. They are responsible for the support and delivery of R&D activities, provision of technical expertise and support to Engineering & Operations departments, and technical leadership in specialist fields.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To carry out all work ethically, safely and in accordance with the relevant standards and best practice within the nuclear industry.
  • R&D proposal generation & presentation to business
  • Delivery of approved R&D projects (both internal and through 3rd Parties) within agreed timescales & budgets
  • Support resolution of technical and practical issues within Engineering & Operations
  • Lead new product/process transition from engineering to operation through training & support activities
  • Support business development activities where appropriate
  • Collaborate with internal & external stakeholders to enable programme delivery
  • Support occasional international conferences & on-site customer meetings

Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:

  • An applied science/engineering degree (or equivalent level of experience in an engineering/scientific role).
  • Experience within a regulated industry (e.g. Nuclear, pharmaceutical, Aerospace, etc.) industries are desirable
  • Have practical knowledge of related engineering disciplines (e.g. mechanical engineering, production engineering, electrical/ electronic engineering, software engineering etc.).
  • Experience working in a project (or similar) environment working to quality, cost and schedule constraints is desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience in research & development and/or innovative problem solving & working across subject domains.

Experience:

  • Relevant higher degree/Ph.D.
  • Experience of CAD systems
  • Python or MATLAB programming

Essential Functions:

  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and internationally, full driving license, ability to obtain security clearance up to SC level.
