Job description
The candidate will be required to undertake Telecoms Support duties on the Eastern portfolio. They will also be required to undertake various duties (survey, design, tendering) including production of Process documentation. The candiate will also be required to under the following (not exhausted) activities:
- Assist in producing Work package Plans, Task Briefing Sheet and risk assessments.
- Act as technical contact and liaison with clients, sub-contractors and other discipline resources.
- Undertake timely production of reports, progress updates using Word and Excel.
- Monitor and control progress/performance against plan / budget
- Undertake quality inspections/ audits
- To provide technical support as a telecoms consultant on allocated contracts or projects.
- Assisting in Project Engineering schemes.
- Work with clients / internal disciplines to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Provide technical input to the tendering process.
- Attend meetings at office, project locations and site
- Production and reviewing of design documentation
- Activities to be undertaken in accordance with project programme deliverables.
Preferably IRSE licenced, IEng, or similar, the candidate needs to be experienced within a Railway Projects environment with particular experience within railway telecoms infrastructure, ops comms, legacy and FTN/FTNx systems including fibre and copper cabling, telephone concentrators, and lineside telephony. Will require a good command of Outlook, Word, Excel and CAD experience would be useful. Must be computer literate, be a good communicator and be able to write reports, deal with the client and sub-contractors, be able to work away on projects across the country or in the office as the job dictates. Must have working knowledge of NR Group/Line/FTN Standards and be able to adhere to them. Driving licence. Must be able to work on projects from GRIP4 to GRIP8 and be able to support the Tendering team with Telecoms estimates. P6 understanding would be an advantage.
