The Job

We are currently looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Team based at our London office. The position itself will include, but not be limited to:

  • The design and documentation of Highway and Transportation projects both preliminary and detailed
  • To lead on projects ensuring the Engineering team deliver the agreed commissions and that client expectations are met or exceeded
  • To lead the engineering input at all stages of a multi-disciplinary project from conceptual design, through the project cycle to site monitoring
  • Production and checking of drawings and reports
  • Conduct any liaison or consultation with statutory authorities or undertakers as necessary to implement the construction of the project
  • Communicating with suppliers, clients and contractors
  • Give technical advice to our clients and potential clients
  • Ensuring that projects are delivered on time and to budget
  • Support junior staff with their training and development

Our ideal candidate will have but not limited to:

  • Relevant 1st Degree or HND/HNC (preferably in engineering) or equivalent qualifications
  • Ideally a minimum of 5 year's relevant experience
  • Membership of a professional institution (e.g., MICE or MCIHT) or aiming towards this status
  • In-depth understanding of highways and traffic engineering techniques and principles and a proven track record in highways design and/or delivery
  • Strong CAD/Civil 3D skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant technical / industry standards
  • Working knowledge of Legal and Regulatory Frameworks
  • Working knowledge of DMRB, Highways Acts, RTRA 1984, RTAs, TSRGD 2002, Traffic Signs Manual and relevant British Standards
  • Understanding and knowledge of drainage and street lighting design requirements.
  • Familiarity with TMA 2004
  • Understanding of CDM requirements
  • Experience and ability working on or managing multi-task projects.
