Due to a number of exciting opportunities, my client is looking to recruit Marine Engineering specialists across a range of Grades.


A role within our expanding Naval Engineering Team will give you the opportunity to become involved in projects across the lifecycle of ships for both our UK and international customers. As a member of our highly professional and capable team, you will get involved in solving engineering challenges through delivering the Naval Engineering aspects of our projects. These can range from supporting our UK and international customers in procuring and designing new ships to delivering complex in-service changes for both naval and commercial vessels, through the delivery of feasibility studies, technical engineering investigations and analyses, or working in customer facing roles including broadening experience through secondments to industry and the UK MOD. As an employee within the companies Naval Engineering Department, you will also have an opportunity to contribute to the delivery of projects across our wider portfolio, including submarine and a range of broader consulting projects within our other market areas.

Research and development is at the heart of what we do and you will have the opportunity to support initiatives such as enhancing global understanding of ship issues, the development of future ship design concepts as well as the development of new capabilities, tools and processes.

In terms of location, our main offices are in Bath, and we are happy to explore flexible and hybrid working arrangements, including potential attendance at one of our other office locations in Plymouth, Weymouth and Portsmouth. Please note that travel to customer sites or to attend meetings will be required. This role is available part-time, job-share or full time. This is because we want the best people for our roles, and we recognise that sometimes those people aren't available full-time.
About you
To be successful in the role you will have:

  • HND/HNC and/or a Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline i.e. Mechanical or Marine Engineering;
  • Achieved registration with a recognised professional body to Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, or be working towards achieving professional registration;
  • A broad understanding of ship machinery spaces and auxiliary systems, hotel systems, propulsion systems and electrical systems;
  • An understanding of the issues pertaining to the integration of ship systems and equipment within ships or marine platforms;
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills with experience of leading technical projects to time, cost and quality through excellent organisational skills despite competing priorities;
  • Good interpersonal skills with experience of communicating your work to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner through meetings, written reports and/or presentations;
  • Flexibility to be deployed on a range of projects and customer sites.

In addition, you should be able to demonstrate some of the following experience:

  • Ship System, Power and Propulsion or Auxiliary Systems design experience; in addition, we are particularly interested in understanding any HVAC design related experience;
  • Ability to produce ship system schematics (in AutoCAD), ship and technical specifications and provide input into ship design bid response documentation;
  • Dealing with equipment suppliers and manufacturers;
  • Design intent management and experience of working within Shipyard environment;
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Class Society Rules, preferably Lloyd's Register, but also an understanding of DNV and ABS;
  • Seagoing experience particularly with the Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary or Merchant Navy;
  • Liaising with customers to understand their requirements and producing statements of work or proposals that deliver innovative solutions;
  • Project management;
  • Leading and line managing junior members of staff, supporting the technical delivery of their work and their ongoing professional development.


This role will require a full UK security clearance; if not already held then my client will sponsor the application process however you will need to have 5 yrs residency in the UK.
