Job description

Title: IT Security Consultant

Location: Hybrid between the office in Canary Wharf and home

Rate: up to £500/day inside IR35 (depending on experience)

 

We are currently working with an international bank as they invest heavily in maturing their security team. As part of this they are looking for an IT Security Consultant to improve the banks Security posture.

The IT Security Consultant will work on IT Security initiated projects. This will include responsibility to identify, manage and remedy IT Security risks/threats during design and operational running of applications and systems.

The role sits within the IT Security Team, with 100% assignment to projects.

There are a number of IT Security initiated projects that require a consultant with deep technical understanding of IT Security tools who will be able to perform technical assessments of existing on premise and Cloud infrastructure and lead the remediation activities. The role may also be required to establish and implement new IT Security Policies, Procedures, Standards, as needed and support the management and operation of IT Security related technology as determined by the project.

Though the primary focus of the role is IT Security within the project, the role will also work closely with, and be influential to the Operational Risk and Information Security team, as needed to promote the delivery goals of the project and reduce the Operational Risk identified to be addressed by this project.

Some key duties:

• Perform technical assessments of existing infrastructure using existing tools to ensure that configuration is secure and fit for purpose (e.g. complete firewall rules review and work with third party to implement rule changes)
• Review configuration of existing security tools, recommend improvements and implement them. This will include ensuring that all the required support processes and agreed and documented (e.g configure StealthWatch policies and ensure IT Security role and responsibilities are agreed within the support model)
• Drive remediation of existing vulnerabilities
• Establish, implement and maintain a suite of IT Security controls within the scope of the project, protecting IT systems and providing visibility of potential threats and vulnerabilities.
• Scoping and facilitation of penetration tests and subsequent requirement to ensure any findings are remediated appropriately.
• Act as the key IT Security technical point of contact for the project and engage with internal teams to ensure all interests and objectives are included.
