Job description


JOB PURPOSE

  • Whole Vehicle Test Senior Engineer with experience in new product development within the EV automotive sector.
  • Apply excellent technical capabilities in a dynamic and challenging engineering environment.


ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES

  • Support leadership of the Durability and Robustness Attribute.
  • Lead assigned Whole Vehicle Testing activities.
  • Collate component, system, and vehicle level test requirements.
  • Develop test plans with the Vehicle Engineering team, emphasising efficiency.
  • Participate in benchmarking of vehicles for durability and attribute competitiveness.
  • Assess vehicles throughout development, ensuring durability and robustness targets are met.
  • Support the implementation and development of Engineering robustness, target achievement, and evaluation activities.
  • Provide technical input for customer expectations regarding durability and robustness.
  • Reference Quality History Reviews and Design Failure Modes & Effects Analyses in new design system design.
  • Perform virtual and physical analysis to evaluate vehicle Durability and Robustness performance.
  • Ensure vehicles are appropriately prepared for testing, including instrumentation and safety standards.
  • Execute teardown activities as part of testing, such as post-corrosion or durability testing.
  • Coordinate spares and consumables requirements for Whole Vehicle Testing.
  • Support bucks and rigs linked directly to Whole Vehicle Testing.
  • Create and check sign-off reports for the Whole Vehicle Test team.


ESSENTIAL/DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS INCLUDING REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Requirements:

  • Degree in Automotive, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in whole vehicle, rigs, bucks, and system level testing management.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Can-do & do-it-right-first-time mindset.
  • High level of resilience.
  • Ability to generate and present technical material concisely.
  • Ability to work independently and in a start-up environment.
  • Good communication skills for interaction with all engineering functions.


DESIRABLE BEHAVIOURS

  • Vehicle testing experience in the automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
  • Vehicle electrification experience and understanding of its impact on vehicle testing.
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Self-starter with high levels of resilience for leading root cause analysis.
  • Provide balanced solutions for clear decision-making.
  • Good communication skills for interaction with all engineering functions.
  • Ability to work with non-direct reports.
  • Ability to work in a start-up environment.
