Controls Engineer
Permanent Position
Redhill, Surrey
£50,000 to £55,000

Responsibilities:
Control System Design: Design and develop control systems using Siemens TIA Portal for various industrial applications.
PLC Programming: Develop and implement PLC programs using ladder logic, function block diagram (FBD), or structured text programming languages in Siemens TIA Portal.
HMI Development: Create human-machine interface (HMI) applications using Siemens TIA Portal to provide intuitive control and monitoring interfaces for operators.
Integration: Integrate and test control systems to ensure seamless communication between PLCs, HMIs, and other automation devices.
Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve issues related to control systems, PLCs, and HMIs during the testing and commissioning phases.
Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including control system specifications, wiring diagrams, and user manuals.
Collaboration: Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as electrical, mechanical, and process engineering, to ensure the successful integration of control systems.
Project Management: Manage and coordinate control system design tasks within the project timeline and budget constraints.
Training: Provide training and support to end-users and maintenance personnel on the operation and maintenance of control systems.

Qualifications:

Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.

Experience:
Several years of experience in controls design and programming, with a focus on Siemens TIA Portal.

Siemens TIA Portal Proficiency: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal software.

PLC Programming Skills: Proficient in programming Siemens PLCs using languages such as ladder logic, FBD, or structured text.

HMI Development Skills: Experience in creating HMI applications using Siemens TIA Portal.

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with industrial automation standards and practices, particularly in manufacturing and process industries.

Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and effectively convey technical information.

Problem-Solving Skills:
Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex control system issues.

Project Management: Experience in managing control system design tasks within project timelines.

Certifications:
Relevant certifications in Siemens TIA Portal or PLC programming may be beneficial.
