Introduction


Our client, a well-established mechanical engineering organization, is seeking a Mechanical Field Engineer to join their team. With expertise in manufacturing and engineering, our client offers complete project services to industries including Petro-Chemical, Oil & Gas, Power, Water, and Pharmaceutical. As a Mechanical Field Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the CAD engineering and Workshop production department by providing detailed manufacturing drawings, producing piping and steelwork drawings, and creating new designs and concepts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create detailed manufacturing drawings to assist fabrication, including general arrangements, part drawings, developments, and templates
  • Produce piping and steelwork fabrication drawings, such as isometrics, general arrangements, and orthographics
  • Adhere to P&IDs when designing pipework drawings
  • Review and check detailed design drawings of piping systems, supports, and steelwork in accordance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications
  • Survey and produce design drawings for like-for-like equipment replacements and modifications
  • Prepare and check bill of materials
  • Provide technical input during the detailed engineering of projects
  • Support the preparation of manufacturing work packs
  • Ensure compliance with ASME and BS EN standards
  • Utilize piping design and calculations knowledge where necessary
  • Work with 3D models and various tools as required

Job Requirements

  • Significant experience in understanding petro-chemical piping specifications and conducting site surveys
  • Proficiency in creating manufacturing drawings and producing piping and steelwork fabrication drawings
  • Familiarity with ASME and BS EN standards
  • Sound piping and steelwork experience in regulated industries such as Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Cryogenics
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Computer literate with knowledge of AutoCAD (advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong understanding of safe working practices
