Responsible AI Manager

Our client, a leading company in the science industry, is seeking a highly skilled Ethics & Compliance AI Manager to join their team on a permanent basis.

Job Overview and Responsibilities

Our client has initiated a fundamental transformation, positioning digital technologies as key drivers. To support this transformation, they have created a startup team dedicated to the AI and Generative AI domain. As an Ethics & Compliance AI Manager, you will join this startup team at its inception. Your role will be to deliver value in a fast and agile fashion, while ensuring compliance, ethics, guardrails, and regulations are never compromised. You will play a pivotal role in the growth and development of this startup, taking into consideration the current business, macroeconomic, and climate crisis context. As the Ethics & Compliance AI Manager, you will be responsible for developing and deploying AI systems responsibly. This will involve setting policies, conducting risk assessments, and leading initiatives to address ethical considerations, bias mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will support overall internal and external communications efforts to showcase the ethical way value is delivered and the startup mindset of the company.

Key Outputs:

  • Policy and Strategy Development: Develop and implement policies and strategies for responsible AI, including ethical guidelines, governance structures, and best practices.
  • Ethical Risk Management: Identify and assess ethical risks associated with AI projects and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Bias Detection and Mitigation: Lead efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate biases in AI models and datasets.
  • Compliance and Reporting: Ensure AI projects comply with internal policies and relevant regulations. Prepare reports on AI ethics and compliance.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver training programs on responsible AI for employees.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product teams, data scientists, legal, and HR departments to integrate responsible AI practices.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with external stakeholders, industry partners, regulatory bodies, and advocacy groups.

Key Stakeholder Interactions:

  • Works closely with Legal, Risk management, Compliance, and the Chief Information Security Office teams.
  • Works closely with the Data Scientist community.
  • Works closely with the required Leadership teams, engaging across multiple teams on the topic.

Education and Experience

  • Proven experience in an AI ethics, compliance, or policy role, ideally within the technology sector.
  • Deep understanding of ethical considerations in AI, including fairness, accountability, transparency, and privacy.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies and their potential social impacts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex ethical dilemmas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience with regulatory frameworks and standards related to AI and data protection.
  • Agile/Scrum methodology experience (SAFE methodology).
  • Creativity, curiosity, and a passion for innovation and technology.
