This permanent position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a long-term project, delivering lineside Civils & Telecoms on the Rail infrastructure.

You will be required to:


Implement Network Rail systems and procedures to ensure a cost-effective, high-quality, safe, and environmentally responsible approach to design, construction, commissioning, and other technical activities. You will liaise with regulators and other stakeholders as necessary.

  • Engineer projects to the standards and specifications of Network Rail, in compliance with appropriate Railway Group and Network Rail Company standards, formal specifications, and procedures.
  • Maintain the use of relevant techniques and procedures for risk assessment and manage the environmental aspects of projects in accordance with Network Rail's environmental policy.
  • Provide project management advice in respect of all construction activities, including site supervision.
  • Undertake reviews of design and/or construction activities in conjunction with the client.
  • Arrange audits of on-site Quality Inspections.
  • Manage and deliver all aspects of the Inspection & Test plan.

Essential Experience:

  • Significant experience in lineside civils, with telecoms installation experience considered a bonus.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in Rail, with at least 3 years' experience as a Project Engineer.
  • Technical qualifications to HNC/HND or equivalent GNVQ level.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, environmental & quality assurance regulations.
  • An understanding of the arrangements required for the independent assessment of work.
  • Risk assessment & engineering management competency.
  • Understanding of temporary works requirements.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Proactive, and flexible approach to work.
  • Strong task and time management skills.
  • Honesty and integrity in all professional dealings.
  • Ability to work confidentially and under pressure.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Desirable Experience:

  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • An appreciation of environmental issues in engineering works.
  • Project Safety management experience.
