Our client is looking for a Flood Risk Hydraulic Modellers, from entry level to senior positions, to support the growth of their Edinburgh & Glasgow Offices and the services they provide across Scotland.


Experience in several UK recognised flood modelling packages, such as Flood Modeller Pro, ESTRY, TUFLOW, ISIS, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks.

The Job

You will be working in a team assisting with the delivery of a broad variety of environmental and flood risk management projects for the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, local authorities and private sector clients.

The successful candidate will scope, schematise, configure, manage and interpret 1D, 2D and linked 1D-2D (principally fluvial) hydraulic models within our flood modelling team. This position involves the delivery of hydraulic and hydrological modelling work, survey data interpretation, flood inundation mapping, geographical information systems analysis and technical reporting.

Applicants should have a relevant degree(s) in geography, environmental management or engineering and have a good technical background with substantial and proven industry experience. We also expect applicants to be chartered or nearing chartered qualification with a relevant recognised institution (such as CIWEM).

Applicants will be expected to lead across a broad range of flood risk management projects. We expect applicants to have significant experience in several UK recognised flood modelling packages, such as Flood Modeller Pro, ESTRY, TUFLOW, ISIS, HEC-RAS and InfoWorks. Applicants should be familiar with both 1D and 2D modelling methods and their application to a range of studies.

Applicants should be experienced in completing hydrological assessments using FEH and other techniques in catchment hydrology. Applicants should be proficient in the use of GIS (using ArcGIS, QGIS and/or MapInfo software) in building and interpreting flood models.

In addition to the identified theoretical and technical competencies, the successful candidate will have an enthusiasm to further develop their career in the water and environment sector. We are looking for a hard-working, well-organised, motivated, enthusiastic, flexible, individual who can work on their own or as part of a team and can communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with colleagues and clients.
