Senior Project Engineer
Our client are a privately owned, German based, automotive engineering consultancy growing to in excess of 1,000 people over the next few years.
Our client, established in the 1980's, is a privately owned, German based, automotive engineering consultancy growing to in excess of 1,000 people over the next few years. They work with many of the world's automotive OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers and automotive technology centres and have numerous powertrain components in mass production including electric motors and hybrid modules to full dual clutch transmissions.
With numerous offices across Germany, Austria, Italy, America, China and the UK, they have a truly global presence allowing comprehensive support for powertrain projects across all vehicle sectors.

* Their Mechatronik GmbH business (Part of the group) is the largest independent automotive hydraulics consultancy in the world
* Involved in many current and future AT, AMT, DCT and MT volume transmission design
projects from clean sheet to production
* They have their own inverter / electric control technology and have designed hybrid modules and e-motors that are in production across the world
* Full design to production experience of hybrid powertrain technologies from energy
storage to the road
* Full engine and motor driven test capability
* Production supplier to VAG group
As part of the groups global growth, and the continuing expansion, a vacancy
has arisen for a Senior Project Engineer to join the business at the Warwick office. Reporting to the Functional Chief Engineer, they are recruiting a Senior Project Engineer with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a transmission and driveline or hybrid/electrical environment.
The key functions of the role:
Coordination of technical project activities within the company and directly to the customer. This should cover an understanding of both time and cost based implications as well as technical project deliverables.
Customer and supplier interfacing. Lead technical reviews, generate clear and concise next steps and prioritise actions accordingly.
Assessment of hybridised and electrified transmission concepts, options and technologies.
Product development and optimisation.
Generation and approval of both internal and external technical reports.
Calculations to support design engineers.
Contribute to system and component-level safety case development, and follow industry standard techniques to ensure a robust design, e.g. FMEA.
Evaluate results of component testing with the development team.
Technical support to the purchase team to aid supplier selection.
Knowledge and management of design verification test plans including parts procurement to support test activities.
Build and maintain a strong customer relationship and facilitate technical interfacing between hofer teams and the client.
Liaison with, including travel to, other sites in order to co-ordinate activities and ensure delivery is in line with the programme requirements.
Qualifications / Education / Experience required:
Degree qualified (2:1 minimum) mechanical / automotive or relevant engineering / science discipline.
Significant experience in a transmission, driveline or hybrid/electrical environment with a
good fundamental understanding of transmissions and electrification.
Confident communicator both internally and to customers.
Ability to work across multiple projects and prioritise accordingly.
An automotive consulting background would be beneficial.
Verifiable experience in system specification; Requirements capture/management and design validation processes.
Understanding of the different manufacturing techniques and processes used in hybridised and electrified transmission production.
PC literate and able to confidently use MS Office products.

Excellent team and communication skills.
