Our client are a cutting edge defence and security technology business seeking and experienced Configuration Manager


Strong Configuration management experience within the defence or other high technology arena.

The Job

Our client are looking for a Configuration Manager to join their Engineering team and lead their high performing Configuration and Data Management (CADM) team of four. The aim of the role is to provide world class and efficient CADM processes and enhance the understanding of configuration management best practise across the Engineering community.


  • Lead and drive a Configuration and Data Management delivery capability within the company.
  • Lead the cultural change necessary for the company to embrace CMII Change and Data Management (CADM) principles and associated PLM enabling tools.
  • Accountable for the performance, efficiency, quality and capability of the CADM function
  • Understand the capabilities of the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) application and help to shape its future strategy
  • Training of other staff in the business in the use of the PLM tool and Configuration Management principles.
  • To lead the development of company CADM policies, processes, work instructions and forms
  • To be accountable for the integrity of the company product data repository.
  • Manage the function of Component Engineering to ensure components selection remain compliant with all internal processes.

Experience required;

  • Experience of leading Configuration & Data Management functions within a defence or security engineering development environment.
  • Solid understanding of engineering and lifecycle management processes.
  • Direct experience of contemporary product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, particularly Arras Innovator (preferred).
  • Effective leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate others to achieve their timescale, quality and performance targets.
  • Direct experience of leading, driving and implementing transformational change.
  • An innovative thinker and pragmatic problem solver, who can identify a variety of options, evaluate their suitability and select the optimum solution.
  • Involvement in an engineering discipline that has been subject to configuration management principles (e.g. electronic or mechanical design or software development) through the lifecycle from design/development through to in service support.
