A market leading engineering compnay in Southampton are looking for an experianced Planned Maintenance Engineer to join a growing team.


Planned Maintenance Engineer

The Job

Job Purpose

To ensure that in line with Asset Management and Reliability Centre Maintenance best practice the equipment has the optimum planned maintenance regime to meet the business needs and minimize life cycle costs.

Undertake regular reviews of all planned maintenance (PM) to ensure that they are set up and are completed based on the following:

  • There are clear and precise PM task instructions with required information to get consistent applied standards
  • Acceptance and discard criteria are clearly defined in line with OEM recommendations
  • Identify where condition monitoring techniques can be implemented.

Regular review of DPWS assets to ensure they have the appropriate Statutory and PUWER maintenance procedures being carried out.

Ensure that Engineering Maintenance Management System is kept up to date and accurately reflects the current practices.

Develop a Centre of Excellence for asset condition monitoring techniques and predictive maintenance including but not limited to those highlighted below:

  • Oil Analysis
  • Infrared Thermography
  • NDT
  • Machinery Lubrication
  • Vibration Measurement

Drive improvement in MMBF.

Ensure that suitable numbers of technicians as defined by the Engineering Manager are trained and maintain their competencies in the various condition monitoring techniques.

Undertake hands on assistance where a higher level of knowledge and competency of the techniques is required than that of the technicians

Where applicable specify work programs and scopes of work for third parties to be brought in for requirements where internal skills and knowledge are not sufficient.

Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

Successful completion of a recognised Engineering Apprenticeship in an appropriate trade course, i.e. NVQ level 4, HND or degree.

Level 2 in Asset Condition Monitoring Techniques

Minimum 3 years heavy industry maintenance experience gained in container handling equipment a similar environment

Experience with planning processes and project management/auditing or investigative work
