Introduction

An exciting long-term contract opportunity has arisen for an experienced Calibration Engineer to work for a leading Automotive Tier 1. Successful candidates will have Fuel Injection Calibration and/or Diesel Emissions experience.

The Job

Senior Calibration Engineer
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Define performance targets for Fuel Injection Equipment (FIE) system (FIE, ECU, S/w, Cal)
* Capture and analyse system performance requirements
* Support the Team Leader as the technical interface with customers and cross-functional teams
* Lead existing and new product characterisation and calibration
* Compile technical reports and presentations for the Calibration Team Leader and Senior Management
* Support FIE team in developing control level requirements, developing efficient and effective designs in order to meet required performance
* Electronic Control Strategy development and ideally use of Simulink
* Support Hazard analysis, FMEA and fault tree analysis
* Develop calibration guidelines for internal and customer use
* Develop rigorous and robust calibration and sign-off procedures
* Cascade sensor / actuator requirements to software and ECU hardware teams
* Provide technical expertise during customer meetings
* On or Offsite customer support as necessary

Essential requirements:
* Educated to a minimum of degree level in Electronics/Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive Engineering/ Mathematics or similar.
* Minimum 5 years' development /calibration experience in a diesel common-rail environment
* Master's degree level desirable
* Chartered Engineering status beneficial
* Sound understanding of FIE systems
* Understanding of common rail hydraulic systems
* Experience with calibration processes and tool-chains such as ATI Vision, ETAS Inca, AVL CRETA
* Ability to coach colleagues
* Strong organisation skills
* Strong communication skills being able to communicate clearly via email, reports and presentations
* Continuous improvement and quality mind-set and attention to detail
* Ability to work under pressure and manage several tasks concurrently
* Experience of empirical engineering system characterisation methods
* Structured quality disciplines such as Six Sigma would be an advantage
