The Job

We are looking to build a team of talented machine learning developers who will work on projects that aim to add new services to our Rail, Automotive, Industrial, Energy and Environment consultancy services and expand on our existing business. You will need to be an expert in machine learning techniques and how to apply these in real world applications. You will also need to be an excellent communicator and be a role model for good development practice.

Automotive & Industrial

Salary & benefits: Competitive

The Automotive & Industrial division delivers engineering consultancy services, focusing particularly on the development of powertrain solutions including both internal combustion engines and electrical power systems.

Activities will include identifying new opportunities, explore analysis options, build case studies, support business development and execute / lead associated project work for customers

You'll work in a non-bureaucratic environment, where you will be trusted, supported to deliver results and comfortable being accountable for progress.

Essential

  1. Proficient in programming for machine learning for example in Python, including experience using pandas, numpy, sklearn
  2. Proven ability to deal with real-world data-handling tasks (data cleaning, gap filling, dimensionality reduction, storing data in different formats)
  3. Expert-level skills in machine learning techniques and implementation, including solving problems using neural networks
  4. Able to work autonomously to generate creative solutions and evaluate alternatives
  5. Excellent communication skills, ability to work with people across different departments and explain your work to non-specialists

Desirable

  1. Experience with engineering in an automotive context
  2. Proficient in object-oriented programming in Python
  3. Proficiency in at least one other programming language with a data science focus (e.g. R)
  4. Experience in consulting
  5. Experience with developing / working with web application interfaces

Essential

Desirable

  1. Fluency in GIS and geospatial coding in GDAL or geopandas
  2. Ability to conduct time series analysis (including forecasting, e.g. ARIMA)
  3. Proficient in object-oriented programming in Python
  4. Proficiency in at least one other programming language with a data science focus (e.g. R)
  5. Experience in consulting
  6. Some experience with deep learning for image classification and feature recognition
