My client are seeking an Infrastructure Project Manager to lead in the technical delivery of highway and civil engineering projects. The team is growing and offers excellent opportunities for the right candidate seeking new exciting opportunities.

The Job

The PM will lead in the programming and project management of the design and construction of a range of civil engineering and highway-related projects and experience will include working as lead designer for contractors. This role will be client facing and as such it is expected that the candidate will have good working relationships with clients.

The successful candidate will manage project budgets, cost plans, internal fees, finance monitoring, procurement of construction works projects and be responsible for a delivery team of Engineers, and Technicians.

Essential Qualifications/Experience/Skills
Capable of working to tight project time scales, work comfortably under pressure and have an open and honest approach.
A Chartered Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (CEng MICE) or other related profession accredited by the Engineering Council. OR Be an Incorporated Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (IEng MICE) or other related profession accredited by the Engineering Council.
Able to demonstrate a proven ability to manage a team of engineers and technicians in the delivery of projects. This shall include the following attributes:

Delivery of Highways England PCF Products.
Experience in the use of design software (e.g. MX, Civils 3D, Revit);
Able to provide technical leadership and support the development of more junior engineers;
Good commercial understanding and able to prepare fee estimates for design works;
Commercial management of small and large scale schemes;
Client liaison as necessary to deliver the schemes/projects;
Production of technical reports as required;
To manage changing workload patterns to meet demands;
Proactively manage the project resources available to deliver project requirements;
To monitor the fees of ongoing packages of work against set targets;
To set and work to deadlines and targets, for oneself and others; and
To manage a Team fee-earning profiles against forecast and actual costs;

An extensive working knowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges, British and European Standards, and Codes of Practice;
Preparation of schemes for invitation to tender (ITT) using the NEC3 Form of Contract, the Specification for Highway Works and the Standard Method of Measurement;
Leading the procurement process for construction projects in both a private and public sector environment;
Supervising and monitoring construction works on site;
Evidence of excellent communication skills showing both orally and in writing. This shall cover the production of technical reports, preparation of letters and statements, to a range of recipients;
The ability to deliver quality through implementing and adapting to achieve continuous improvement;
Evidence of the skill to consult and negotiate on engineering schemes and contractual matters;
Skills to use computers and computer-aided design packages for preparation of plans, communications and presentations;
Extensive knowledge of relevant highway and civil engineering statutory procedures with particular reference to Health and Safety and CDM 2015;
To manage the engineering resources available to undertake all aspects of project delivery from feasibility through concept design, to detailed design through to construction and on to completion.
To determine and implements programmes of work.
Prepare and manage project fee proposals against targets.
Prepare and manage project cost plans.
To ensure projects are undertaken and specified to meet the requirements of quality, health and safety, environmental standards, to time and to both national and corporate standards.
To manage a team of engineers and technicians to deliver a variety of projects over a range of complexities.

Salary negotiable (depending upon experience).
Contractual working hours 37.5 per week with flexible working arrangements.
