The Joint Enablers (JE) domain is part of DE&S, and is comprised of the Helicopter and Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) project groups. Together, JE delivers a wide range of capabilities to the Royal Navy, the Army and the Royal Air Force as well as Joint Forces Command. Great delivery is a key element of our vision for the future at DE&S/SDA and, as part of our Project Management function, you will be tasked with the delivery of equipment and support in order to keep our Armed Forces supplied with what they need to achieve their operations. If you join our organisations, you will be able to play your part in the procurement and support of our Armed Forces' equipment. The Merlin and Apache Helicopter projects are embedded at the Leonardo facility in Yeovil. Both projects are responsible for the delivery of safe, reliable, supported, affordable and capable helicopters now and in the future. As a Helicopter Project PM, you will work as part of a team responsible for Project Management Planning, Contract Performance, Industry Negotiation, Mitigating and Managing Risk, Cost Profiling and Managing the Schedule. Successful candidates will deliver simple projects or elements of more complex projects using basic project management principles, tools and techniques. This role is also an excellent opportunity to take your first step into the MOD and candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities As part of this role, you will: - Develop business cases and project management plans or support in the development of these. - Lead the development of resource plans , budgets and project schedules - Manage the contribution of internal staff and third-party suppliers to ensure the project is delivered on time and on budget - Identify, record and monitor project risks, threats and opportunities, ensuring they are appropriately managed - Prepare project status briefs for reporting to Senior Management
In order to be successful you must have: * 2 A Levels Grades A*-D or equivalent * 5 GCSE grades 9-4* to include English and Maths (*or current/previous equivalent) * Previous experience of working in a project environment applying project management methodology, tools and techniques to contribute to successful project delivery * Experience of gathering data, validating information received and contributing to the development of management information reports * An understanding of contract management and good practice when working with suppliers * Experience of identifying and engaging with stakeholders It will be beneficial to have: * APM Project Fundamentals Qualification / Introductory Certificate or equivalent This Junior Project Manager role is an excellent development opportunity. Externally accredited Project Management training will be provided and the range of assignments available will allow you to rapidly demonstrate your ability to lead as a more senior Project Manager. Learning will be delivered through a blended approach, from learning on the job to exposure to peers, subject matter experts, mentors and coaches. The Project Management Function develops its' people by offering: * Career pathways which cross different military environments and types of project * Regular offsite Project Management conferences * Access to a high ranging training portfolio and soft skills development activities. * Support to staff in achieving corporate membership of the Association of Project Management (APM).
