Our client is looking for a large number of site engineers for an infrastructure upgrade programme in the South West of England. 6 months initial contract. We are looking for degree qualified candidates who hold an SMSTS or IOSH certificate.
-Implement and maintain safe systems of work as part of developing SHE programme and participate in weekly SHE inspections.
-Daily supervision and organisation (in conjunction with site team) of subcontractors to ensure safe working practices in accordance with project requirements e.g. specification and terms and conditions.
-Be responsible and co-operate with the site team to ensure work is planned and undertaken in accordance with the Project Safety, Health and Environmental Plan.
-Be responsible and adhere to the quality process in accordance with the Project Quality Plan, with a particular emphasis on defect avoidance and zero defects at completion to ensure Nuclear Safety.
-Setting out of structures.
-Maintaining Quality Assurance Records and ensuring compliance with specification.
-Record keeping of site and other activities, including contractual records, for example daily diaries.
-Taking off and ordering of materials, and checking on delivery.
-Planning and sequencing of operations including the writing of risk assessments and method statements.
-Be proactive in project costs and assist in reporting on variances against weekly forecasts.
-Identify risks and opportunities, both technical and commercial.
-Liaise with third parties as necessary.
-Participate in daily shift meetings.
-Carry out any other reasonable project tasks as instructed by line manager.
-Degree level/HNC/HND qualification in a Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
-SMSTS / IOSH
-Member of relevant Professional Institute
-Minimum 2 years work experience within a similar role with a main contractor in built environment.
-Experience of coordinating design work and supervising subcontracts.
-Understanding of Engineering Principles
-Technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices
-Computer competence (MS Word, Excel, Document control system)
-Relevant CSCS Card
-Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management
-Presentation Skills Training (as they deliver inductions / briefings etc.)
-Experience in piling, steelwork erection, precast and insitu concrete
-Experience of heavy lift and transport contractors
-Experience of construction on a nuclear licensed site
-Computer competence (Sypol COSHH database, CAD)
-Vocational Training (successful experience at engineer level)
