Job description
Job Title Mechanical Technician
Location Hampshire / West Sussex
Salary £17-19 per hour
Work Opportunity Permanent Opportunity, Full Time - 40 hours per week
Introduction
We are excited to be working with Mechanica, a leading utility services provider in the Water sector, to help them hire local Mechanical Technicians to join their team, working across sites in both West Sussex and Hampshire.
This role is an opportunity to join a growing company with a solid customer base and a vision for the future, including promotion and new roles/responsibilities over time.
What will I be doing?
As a Mechanical Technician, you'll play a key role in the operation, working on Water Utility, Power Industry, Food, Paper, Petroleum, and Government sites as part of a mechanical & electrical team.
You'll remove and install mechanical equipment onsite, which can include working at heights and within confined spaces, as well as in sewerage and potable water environments.
You'll dismantle mechanical equipment including pumps, motors, gearboxes and screens, inspecting the dismantled components, taking tolerance measurements and assessing repair methods.
You'll use specialist equipment to complete fault finding activities on pumps and gearboxes, repairing and refurbishing mechanical equipment in line with instructions and guidance.
You'll also follow onsite health and safety requirements to make sure that work is compliant with policies and procedures for quality (ISO 9001), the environment (ISO 14001), and health & safety (ISO 45001).
What do I need to succeed?
We're looking for someone with experience in mechanical engineering, particularly in dismantling, inspecting, and repairing equipment such as pumps, motors, and gearboxes.
You'll have a good understanding of onsite health and safety regulations, as well as sewerage/clean water hygiene, and will be comfortable working within confined spaces (formal training can be provided where needed).
Alongside this, you'll also have a full UK driving licence, and will be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
What else should I know?
As a valued member of the team, here are some of the benefits you'll be entitled to when you join:
- Opportunities for overtime work and participation in a call-out rota system
- 25 days annual leave, plus statutory bank holidays on top
- Immediate enrolment in the company pension scheme
- Professional development and training opportunities
- And more!
What's my next step?
If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you - please click the apply button and we'll be in touch shortly to discuss next steps.

Does Matchtech take a cut of my pay if I use them to find my next job?
Absolutely not! We charge the end client for our services, not the candidate. So you can rest assured that there is no difference to your pay when being placed into a new role by Matchtech.
If I use a recruiter at Matchtech to find my next role, am I going to be bombarded with irrelevant job opportunities?
