Job description
Our local authority client, is actively seeking a Building Control Manager on a contract basis. This role is pivotal in managing and delivering the building control service, ensuring compliance with building regulations and associated legislation. If you have excellent building knowledge along with the ability to effectively lead a team, this could be the role for you.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensuring compliance with building regulations through necessary professional duties
- Developing, maintaining, and refining team processes and procedures
- Ensuring Building Regulations applications and associated work processes are carried out timely and professionally
- Managing team inspections of sites to ensure compliance with relevant legislation
- Providing robust line management, including performance management and deployment of council policies
- Leading by example in behaviour and values, creating an environment for team excellence
- Responsible for the appointment and development of team members
- Tackling issues promptly and managing aspects of team's work related to access, sustainability, and fire safety
- Contributing positively to corporate issues impacting the Planning service area
Job Requirements:
- Experience in managing and delivering a building control service
- Strong knowledge of building regulations and associated legislation
- Ability to provide effective leadership and development within a team
- Strategic mindset with a passion for driving service improvements
- Understanding of financial sustainability within service delivery
- Proficiency in managing performance, leave, and expenses claims
- Ability to uphold health & safety and GDPR policies
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with colleagues, service managers, councillors, and townsfolk
