Job description
Our client, a prominent entity in the Defence & Security industry, is seeking a Principal FPGA Engineer on a contractual basis. This role is situated within the Electronics Function in Newcastle and involves creating and developing firmware for cutting-edge airborne applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop firmware using VHDL
- Verify designs using either VHDL or SystemVerilog
- Work within a structured firmware design process
- Analyse system-level documents to derive detailed firmware requirements
- Specify complex timing and area constraints for FPGA place and route
- De-bug firmware designs and support system-related verification and integration
- Communicate effectively and flexibly with team members and stakeholders
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, preferably specialising in FPGA/Digital techniques
- Experience creating innovative VHDL-based FPGA designs
- Advanced verification techniques using either VHDL or SystemVerilog/UVM
- Familiarity with FPGA technologies from Xilinx, Altera, or Microsemi and their tools
- Proficiency in Model Driven Engineering tools, including MATLAB and Simulink
- Knowledge of high-speed interface design & integration such as PCIe, DDR3, and Ethernet
- Experience with RTCA DO-254 or similar structured firmware processes
Security Clearance:
You must be eligible for full security clearance to be considered for this role.
