Job description
Our client, a leading provider in the automation and manufacturing sector, is currently seeking an EC&I Engineer to join their team in Warrington. This permanent position involves the electrical design, engineering, and instrumentation of process plants within the food, beverage, personal care, and homecare industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering specifications for electrical control panels, instrumentation, and electrical installation
- Specifying and discussing instrumentation requirements with the Process Department and suppliers
- Supporting the sales team in proposals by estimating labour and materials costs
- Managing control panel manufacturing and assisting in testing control panels before shipment to the site
- Creating Load/Motor, Instrument and I/O Schedules from P&ID and equipment data sheets
- Liaising with the site and project team during the installation and supporting the site manager
- Designing electrical loop diagrams, cable routes, and layouts
- Approving Control Panel schematics and incorporating connection data onto electrical loop diagrams
- Configuring and commissioning instruments and VSDs, and supporting I/O testing with the project team
- Understanding control bus systems, such as Profibus DP, Profibus PA, AS-i, and industrial Ethernet networks
- Assisting with the power-up procedure once installation is complete
- Assisting with I/O Testing and early stage commissioning
- Preparing site commissioning file with construction status electrical drawings
- Completing and issuing electrical drawings to the documentation team upon project completion
Job Requirements:
- Proficiency in Eplan, Control Systems, AutoCAD, and Electrical Design
- Ability to ensure all electrical criteria are met from initial concept through detailed design, panel testing, and handover
- Understanding of the food, beverage, personal care, and homecare industries, including relevant regulations and certifications
- Experience with hazardous area regulations and ATEX
- Familiarity with control systems, like Siemens or Rockwell, Profibus DP, Profinet, and industrial Ethernet networks
- Knowledge and design experience of safety systems, E-Stops, interlocks, etc.
- Experience in specifying, technically and commercially appraising, recommending, selecting and sourcing control panel components
- Previous panel testing experience in the UK
- Ability to design and specify control systems using IO Link, Profinet, Profibus DP, Profibus PA, ASI networks and HART/4-20mA technologies
- Experience with instrumentation applications including Flow, Level, Pressure, Temperature, Weight Systems, & Analytical
- Experience with instrument suppliers such as Endress & Hauser, IFM, Siemens & Mettler Toledo
- End-user documentation and liaising with the after-sales department to complete detailed project manuals
Qualifications:
- HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with relevant industry experience
Location:
The primary location for this role is in the Warrington office. Standard working hours are Mon-Fri, 9am to 5pm. Occasional visits to client sites for meetings, surveys, and commissioning support are required.
