Job description
Resourcing solutions have a fantastic opportunity for a Assistant Project Engineer in the Manchester or Leeds area working with one of the largest Tier 1 railway companies on a flagship project. The successful candidate will be part of a team that will enhance the railway system making it more reliable, frequent, faster, and more eco-friendly.
As the Project Engineer, you will be assisting with the engineering activities for allocated projects to facilitate conformance to the contract specification and delivery to programme timescales.
You will be expected to work 37.5 hours on a hybrid model and may make use of offices anywhere in the north of England.
Responsibilities include:
- Assist with the engineering activity on allocated projects including support for design reviews; communication and consultation with other functions (design, install and test) over changes; and interfaces with other disciplines (including facilitating inter-disciplinary check meetings).
- Assist the project team with defining the engineering resource required to deliver the project plan and provide engineering review of the method statements and risk assessments proposed for the work.
- Attend record briefings of technical updates to the project team, implement and promote best practice
- Identify own additional training requirements and development opportunities and attend courses / training as required
- Ensure that materials are specified correctly, orders are placed to meet the project programme and that an up-to-date material schedule is maintained for the project.
- Assist with an inspection and surveillance regime consistent with company standards and project requirements.
- Provide sufficient site support to the project team (Project Manager, site supervisors, resource providers and sub-contractors) throughout the works to ensure that critical engineering decisions can be made in a timely manner and that issues arising can be dealt with to ensure compliance with a minimum of re-work.
- The role is one based in an office / site office environment. It is a requirement of the role to attend site on a regular basis (including nights and weekends).
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Min HNC / HND in Engineering (or working towards).
- Personal Track Safety (PTS)
- Computer literacy - Excel, Word, Power point and Microsoft Outlook
- Strong interpersonal skills to influence and manage all stakeholders
- Understanding of basic site engineering in a Construction Environment (preferably Rail)
