Job description
This role involves developing, producing, and updating mechanical designs for existing and future radar systems. You will be part of a small and flexible engineering team, working on a range of designs from entire radar system assemblies to smaller, precision-engineered electrical modules, including one-off test jigs and support items.
Working closely with engineers and production colleagues, you will create detailed technical drawings using CAD tools and apply applicable standards for drafting and drawing mechanical items. You must be an active team-player, collaborative, and adept at problem-solving within tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Generate and maintain 2D drawings and 3D models of engineering designs.
- Generate and maintain mechanical and assembly BoMs.
- Take designs from engineering and input from manufacturing to create and amend models and drawings.
- Produce product drawings suitable for use in manufacture.
- Support engineering & production to ensure manufacturability.
- Maintain 3D models and drawings within the PLM system.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in using 2D and 3D CAD tools, specifically SolidWorks.
- HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Excellent teamworking and collaboration skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with mechanical aspects of the design of advanced electronic products & systems.
- Experience with full-system 3D modelling and 2D drawing, including flexible assemblies such as wiring harnesses.
- Knowledge or experience with other modelling or drawing software/tools, e.g. Creo.
