Quantity Surveyor
We're supporting a leading contractor operating in the power and utilities space as they look to strengthen their commercial team with an Quantity Surveyor. This is a permanent opportunity to take a hands-on commercial role on a high-profile infrastructure scheme in London involving a significant cable route installation.
You'll play a central part in safeguarding commercial performance across the project, working closely with delivery, engineering and supply-chain partners while operating under NEC contracts.
The Role
As a Quantity Surveyor, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day commercial management of the project, ensuring strong cost control, accurate reporting and effective contractual administration throughout the project lifecycle.
Key duties will include:
- Commercial management of NEC3/NEC4 contracts from commencement through to final account
- Oversight of subcontractor packages, including valuations, change management, claims and negotiations
- Preparation and presentation of cost reports, forecasts and commercial updates to project leadership
- Active management of compensation events, early warnings and change processes
- Supporting and mentoring other commercial team members on the project
- Working closely with operational teams to align commercial performance with programme and delivery
- Ensuring records, audit trails and commercial documentation remain accurate and compliant
- Developing strong, collaborative relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors
- Maintaining a visible site presence to support project and stakeholder requirements
About You
You'll be a commercially confident Quantity Surveyor with experience working on complex civil or electrical infrastructure projects, ideally within utilities or power-related environments.
Essential experience:
- Proven background in Quantity Surveying on live projects
- Civil and/or electrical project experience
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts
- Degree, HNC or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
- Good working capability in Excel (including pivot tables and lookups)
Desirable:
- Chartered status or actively working towards professional accreditation (e.g. RICS)
