Civil / Structural Engineers - All Levels
Contract: 12 months
Location: Predominantly remote, with trips to project sites and occasional visits to the Glasgow office
Security Clearance: SC Security Clearance required (UK nationals only)
We are seeking Civil / Structural Engineers at all levels to join a highly specialist engineering team delivering complex, high‑value infrastructure programmes.
As we are recruiting across multiple grades, rates will be dependent on experience. The role is largely remote, with occasional site visits required depending on project needs.
About the Team
You will join a 140‑strong UK Civil & Structural Engineering team specialising in solving some of the most complex and technically demanding structural engineering challenges.
Projects are varied and typically involve assessment of dynamic load effects arising from extreme hazards, including seismic, blast, and impact scenarios.
Engineers are expected to look far beyond standard code compliance, developing deep technical insight into structural response and failure mechanisms, including:
- Ductility and nonlinear behaviour
- Buckling and progressive collapse
- Soil-structure interaction
The team works collaboratively, applying first‑principles thinking, researching and developing new methodologies, challenging assumptions, and continuously developing technical capability.
Quality & Technical Standards
Work is delivered to the highest technical and quality standards. Complex analysis models are rigorously validated, and all outputs are fully evidenced and subject to independent third‑party review, including scrutiny by external safety regulators.
As a result, this is considered one of the most challenging and rewarding roles available to civil and structural engineers in the UK.
Projects
You will contribute to multi‑million‑pound, long‑term infrastructure improvement programmes, including:
- Reinforced concrete structures
- Plated steel structures
- Maritime and waterfront structures
- Specialist and high‑integrity facilities
Design work is typically delivered from Glasgow, Edinburgh, or London, which may act as your hybrid base office.
Key Responsibilities
- Inter‑disciplinary project planning, delivery, and financial performance
- Ensuring technical quality and excellence of all project deliverables
- Providing technical and professional guidance to junior engineers and technicians
- Adhering to, and contributing towards, business and quality management systems
- Championing operational and design safety and promoting a strong safety culture
What You'll Need
Successful candidates must:
- Be able to achieve and maintain SC Security Clearance, including being a UK national
- Have strong all‑round civil/structural design expertise, using British Standards, International Standards, and/or Eurocodes
- Demonstrate experience managing project deliverables, including quality, budget, programme, and resources
- Hold a good accredited MEng degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Be Chartered (CEng) or working towards Chartered status as a Civil or Structural Engineer
