Our client, a renowned consultancy in the highways sector, is currently seeking qualified Project Manager's with expertise in highway projects to be seconded into a local authority.
Core Responsibilities:
- Project Planning: Ensure project objectives are understood and all high-level deliverables are embedded in documentation. Develop detailed execution plans and task breakdowns. This constitutes 70% of the role, focusing on progressing governance processes and the geographical strategic partnership of 18 local authorities and Local Enterprise Partnerships Single Assurance Framework (SAF) and the Business Justification Case (BJC).
- Budget Management: Report progress to the team board. Although this is only 5% of the role, it requires collaboration with the Commercial Manager who leads this work.
- Scheduling: Maintain project programmes and liaise with the scheduler using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. Track progress against critical path milestones. This function represents 5% of the role.
- Risk Mitigation: Help develop and maintain project risk registers, and attend risk reduction meetings. This constitutes 15% of the role.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Liaise with the communications manager to ensure any correspondence is dealt with according to processes. This comprises 5% of the role.
Job Requirements:
- Experience in managing highway projects, with a strong understanding of the unique challenges and requirements in the highways sector.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Strong organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple project elements simultaneously.
- Excellent risk management and mitigation skills.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to liaise with stakeholders at various levels.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
