Simulation Systems Engineer

About the Role
Matchtech are working closely with an innovative organisation within the defence and security sector, who are seeking a Simulation Systems Engineer to join a highly skilled Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) team. This role offers the opportunity to work on advanced simulation technologies in a collaborative and supportive environment, contributing to cutting-edge engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise simulation environments, ensuring systems and control equipment remain operational and fit for purpose
- Support the upkeep of multi-axis hydraulic motion simulators and antenna positioning systems
- Carry out both planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault resolution
- Perform hands-on engineering tasks in a practical, workshop-based environment
- Interpret complex systems, applying engineering judgement to troubleshoot and improve performance
- Work flexibly across a range of technical challenges, developing broad, transferable skills
- Contribute ideas and improvements to enhance team performance and operational efficiency
Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical engineering drawings
- Experience with CAD tools (CREO desirable)
- Practical workshop experience using hand and powered tools
- Strong coordination and manual dexterity for hands-on technical work
- Comfortable working at height when required
- Understanding of control systems theory
- Confident using IT systems, including Management Information Systems (MIS)
- Able to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team
Qualifications
- Degree (2:1 or above preferred) in one of the following:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Mechatronics / Robotics
- Aeronautical Engineering
- Electronic Engineering
(Equivalent experience will also be considered)
