Supply Chain Platform Manager - 12 month contract - Porsmouth Naval Base - £37.61 ph UMB or £28ph PAYE (Inside IR35)

The Umbrella rate quoted above is the Gross Umbrella rate (i.e. the rate we pay to the Umbrella Company inclusive of ALL employment costs). Please note, the rate paid by the Umbrella will be less, as will a Limited Deemed rate or Agency PAYE rate. Please get in touch to discuss the rates via these different payment vehicles.

The Role

Reporting to the Fleet Time Engineering (FTE) Supply Chain Programme Manager , responsible for providing leadership and direction for all supply chain acitivities within complex £1m - £10m p.a. Ship Repair Programmes. The Supply Chain Platform Manager will be responsible for ensuring all materials and services are planned and subsequently available as required to support Programme requirements. This includes maintenance tasks, Capability Insertions and includes the Materials and Services required.

Working closely with key Programme Stakeholders, Projects, Commercial, Operations, Engineering, Royal Navy and Key Suppliers, to ensure the supply chain requirements are understood, planned and delivered to the required levels of quality, schedule adherence and cost. This is a complex role developing and managing the Materiels Supply Plan and strategies for these strategically important programmes.

Role Responsibilities:

Not limited to…

  • To lead all supply chain activities within the FTE Programme, to provide bid support, strategic development, operational performance management, tactical issue resolution, ensuring Project revenue, budget performance and customer satisfaction targets are achieved.
  • To manage the project life-cycle, ensuring Supply chain outputs are met e.g. Bid deliverables, internal bid approval inputs, Phase Reviews, Design/Technical reviews as required by the programmes.
  • Financially plan and achieve the financial objectives for orders, sales, margin and cash, contributing to the overall business Integrated Business Plan for current and future periods as required.
  • Be the prime point of contact for all project related contract management and procurement issues and liaise with the Procurement Manager and team for material and sub contracted services to address reported issues.
  • Develop an approach to manage Supply Chain status, performance, and critical issues management within a shared project and functional management structure
  • Ensure known Supply Chain risks are understood within the programme and mitigation plans are agreed and protect the commercial interests of the company and where necessary captured in either the Programme or Supply Chain Risk Registers.
  • Act as a change agent for Supply Chain within the project environment, assist in the education and communications of the strategies developed.
  • Manage the Supply Chain project performance, budget and risk and report into the project contract review pack.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders, (customers/suppliers/functional peers) maintaining regular communication and managing expectations
  • Lead effective communications and employee engagement, to foster a culture of openness, feedback, two-way dialogue and honesty to ensure people are aware and engaged in their delivery contribution
  • To provide regular progress reports against deliverables and ensure appropriate support to supplier performance reviews and provide supplier performance information to relevant stakeholders. This includes customer and ship staff reviews
  • Agree and implement Supply Chain KPI's for the Programme.

What are BAE Systems looking for from you?

  • Supply Chain best practice knowledge and experience
  • Comprehensive experience of theories and practices within Supply Chain, Supplier Relationship Management and Sustainable Procurement.
  • Experience in managing Uk MoD customer and supply chains within a naval or maritime domain.
  • Proven track record of development and delivery of large Programmes within a matrix organisation.
  • Supply Chain function's people, process and enabling technologies to exceed or meet the Programmes business objectives
  • Major Programmes / Project Procurement Management experience
  • Experience managing and leading Supply Chain activites within cross functional programmes.
  • Awareness of the MOD/Navy Supply Chain processes and procedure.
  • Experience as a Supply Chain lead within an organisation of an equivalent size and scope
  • In depth knowledge of Logistics and Supply Chain Management practices
