Pay: Up to £16.00 per hour (PAYE)


Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled and detail-focused Production Operator / Mechanical Assembler to join a precision manufacturing team. This is a hands-on bench assembly role building high-quality units using clear, step-by-step SOPs.

You'll be working with small mechanical and electro-mechanical components, carrying out assembly, inspection, and basic testing. This role is ideal for someone who is patient, methodical, and quality-driven, with the confidence to follow detailed instructions and raise issues where needed.


Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare components, tools, and workstation prior to assembly
  • Inspect and clean parts, seals, and machined surfaces
  • Assemble precision components including housings, gears, motors, PCBs, and fittings
  • Fit O-rings, seals, bearings, springs, washers, and circlips
  • Apply grease, threadlocker, or sealant as specified
  • Use calibrated torque tools and hand tools safely and accurately
  • Carry out inspection checks and basic functional testing (e.g. rotation, alignment)
  • Record build data, label finished units, and prepare for final testing and dispatch

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in mechanical, electro-mechanical, or production assembly preferred
  • Confident working with small, delicate parts and precision components
  • Able to follow SOPs, visual instructions, and checklists accurately
  • Strong attention to detail with a quality-first mindset
  • Comfortable with repetitive, process-driven work
  • Reliable, organised, and maintains a clean workspace

Desirable Experience

  • Use of torque tools, fasteners, seals (O-rings), bearings, and circlips
  • PCB connections or basic functional testing
  • Experience in regulated or quality-controlled production environments (e.g. medical devices, instrumentation, valves, actuators)

Working Environment & Training

  • Bench-based workshop or manufacturing setting
  • Work involves close-tolerance, precision assembly
  • PPE required (e.g. gloves, safety glasses, lab coat where applicable)
  • Full training provided covering SOPs, safety procedures, inspection points, and quality standards
