Our client, an industry leader in maritime training, is seeking a Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering Instructor - Fitter and Turner to join their permanent team at Portsmouth. This role is part of a major project initiative, which aims to modernise marine training to deliver royal navy engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivering workshop theory and practical instruction to Service and Civilian trainees to Foundation Degree/Defence standards
- Preparing course documentation, assessing tests and examinations, and developing new course material
- Maintaining and repairing training equipment and training aids
- Providing subject matter expertise on courses delivered
- Liaising with external authorities, ships, establishments, and other military units to provide technical support and advice
- Working collaboratively within the marine project to ensure successful training delivery
Job Requirements:
- Recognised apprenticeship or relevant training in fitting and turning processes, and recent experience in workshop skills
- Experience in fitting, turning, milling, and grinding, along with the ability to interpret engineering drawings in accordance with BS8888
- Minimum of five years post-apprenticeship experience in a relevant working environment
- Ability to provide evidence of ability, experience, and qualifications
Desirable Skills:
- Previous experience in a training/instructional role, though training in Defence instructional techniques will be provided
- Experience in Computer-Aided Design (CAD)
