Overview

We are supporting a rapidly growing MedTech start-up in the recruitment of a Support Engineer to join their expanding team. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role where you will provide technical support, troubleshooting, and maintenance for advanced electro-mechanical equipment deployed in hospital environments across the UK.

This position requires a strong blend of mechanical, electrical, and software understanding, combined with excellent communication skills to liaise confidently with senior clinical and technical stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site and remote technical support for electro-mechanical medical equipment
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve faults spanning mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Install, commission, and configure equipment at customer sites
  • Act as a trusted technical liaison with hospital staff, clinicians, and senior stakeholders
  • Perform routine servicing, preventative maintenance, and system upgrades
  • Analyse system performance and identify root causes of issues
  • Escalate complex issues internally and collaborate with engineering and product teams
  • Maintain accurate service records, reports, and documentation
  • Deliver basic user training and technical guidance to end users
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant healthcare regulations and safety standards

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience supporting electro-mechanical equipment or systems
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, electronics, and software-driven devices
  • Experience diagnosing faults across integrated hardware/software systems
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system documentation
  • Previous experience in a field service or customer-facing engineering role
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior customers
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively

Desirable Skills

  • Experience within MedTech, healthcare, or regulated industries
  • Familiarity with embedded systems or software diagnostics
  • Knowledge of networking or connected devices
  • Understanding of relevant compliance standards (e.g., ISO, medical device regulations)
