Mechanical Lead - Data Centre Project (Skellefteå, Sweden)

We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Mechanical Lead to join our team on a large-scale data centre project in Skellefteå, Sweden. This is a senior-level position responsible for leading our mechanical engineering function, driving operational excellence, and ensuring our projects are delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
As the Mechanical Lead, you will provide technical and operational leadership across the full project lifecycle. Your duties will include:
Team Leadership: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of Mechanical Engineers, ensuring high performance and technical alignment.
Design & Value Engineering: Propose and implement design changes to improve cost efficiency, accelerate construction programmes, and enhance final specification quality.
Operational Oversight: Monitor all construction activities, ensuring rigorous quality of workmanship and adherence to material specifications.
Commercial Astuteness: Apply strong commercial awareness to project decision-making, ensuring financial objectives and procurement targets are met.
Project Coordination: Act as a key liaison between the Contracts Manager, site engineers, and other discipline leads to ensure all subcontractors and personnel are provided with timely, accurate information.
Technical Compliance: Verify that all drawings and specifications are fully understood; ensure that any errors or omissions are identified and formally communicated to the design team immediately.
Resource Management: Establish project resource requirements, ensuring teams are adequately staffed and supported to meet project deadlines.
Safety Leadership: Oversee and champion the highest standards of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance across the site.
Candidate Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a relevant technical discipline.
Leadership Experience: Extensive experience in effectively leading multidisciplinary MEP teams is essential.
Sector Expertise: Proven track record in the successful delivery of mechanical systems within large-scale Data Centre projects.
Project Controls: Solid experience in scheduling, programming, and sequencing complex construction works.
Procurement: Strong knowledge of procurement processes and supply chain management.
Soft Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships in a fast-paced environment.
