Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking a skilled FPGA Engineer for a contract position. This role is pivotal in delivering highly complex digital systems designed to meet stringent future customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
As an FPGA Engineer, you will:
- Work collaboratively with experts in the field to design and implement Firmware for advanced digital systems.
- Utilise design tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM.
- Apply knowledge of FPGA architectures including Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
- Integrate fast interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD into designs.
- Generate auto code using model-driven engineering with Matlab and Simulink tools.
- Derive detailed Firmware requirements and architecture from system requirements.
- Adopt a structured approach to firmware design, aligned with standards such as RTCA DO-254 or similar.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have experience in:
- Design tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM.
- FPGA architectures like Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
- Fast interfaces, including PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD.
- Model-driven engineering using Matlab and Simulink tools.
- Deriving Firmware requirements and architecture from system specifications.
- Applying cryptography and anti-tamper techniques.
- Utilising artificial intelligence, machine learning, and genetic algorithms.
- Employing electronics test methods and equipment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Working cohesively in mixed discipline teams.
- Holding an HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Games Programming, Physics, or Applied Physics; or equivalent practical experience.
