Naval Architect / Marine Design Engineer | Hull & Structural Design | 3D CAD | Production Drawings) - Pembrokeshire

The Role

We're hiring a Naval Architect / Marine Design Engineer to support the design and delivery of small craft and vessels under 24 metres. This is a practical, delivery-focused role where you'll produce production-ready drawings, support marine manufacturing, and ensure designs align with contract and Class/Survey requirements where needed.

You'll be involved from early-stage GA drawings and technical specifications through to detailed manufacturing drawings, BOMs and nesting outputs that help the build team deliver quality, on time.

Why Pembrokeshire?

This role is based in Pembrokeshire - one of the UK's standout coastal regions. If you enjoy sea air, open space and an outdoors lifestyle, you'll be on the doorstep of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, beaches, harbours and some of the best coastal walking in the country-while still working on exciting, real-world marine engineering projects being built close to home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate within the Company's Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) procedures and ensure your own compliance and understanding.
  • Ensure all work is delivered in line with company quality procedures and engineering standards.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to keep builds moving and resolve day-to-day engineering queries.
  • Review incoming design and production drawings to ensure alignment with production, contract, operational and Class/Survey requirements.
  • Assist in bid/tender activity by preparing technical specification documentation and general arrangement (GA) drawings.
  • Deliver hull design, including surface modelling and fairing for small craft.
  • Undertake structural design and detailing, including to classification rules where required.
  • Generate and issue production-ready drawings including arrangements, schematics and detailed manufacturing/engineering drawings.
  • Use 3D CAD to create boat/project assemblies, sub-assemblies and arrangements.
  • Prepare nesting drawings, section lists and bills of materials (BOMs) and liaise with suppliers as needed.
  • Participate in Design Reviews and support other design office tasks as required.

Software

Experience with the following is beneficial, but not essential (training/support can be provided):

  • Maxsurf Suite
  • AutoCAD
  • Autodesk Inventor

What We're Looking For

  • Experience in naval architecture, marine design engineering, or similar production-focused marine design work.
  • Confidence creating production drawings / manufacturing drawings and supporting a build team.
  • Understanding of GA drawings, engineering documentation and (where relevant) Class/Survey requirements.
  • Strong communication and a practical "design-for-manufacture" mindset.
  • High standards around quality, accuracy and safe working.
