The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join their growing manufacturing team in Swindon.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled programmer with strong CNC turning experience who can take ownership of programming activities and support the introduction of a new machine arriving later this year. You'll play a key role in developing efficient machining processes, optimising cycle times, and ensuring the successful manufacture of high-precision components.
The successful candidate will be confident working independently and possess a strong background in CNC programming, particularly within a turning environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and optimise CNC programs for complex precision-engineered components.
- Program, set and support CNC turning operations.
- Develop efficient machining strategies to improve productivity and reduce cycle times.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Support first-off prove-outs and process development.
- Troubleshoot machining and programming issues.
- Work closely with production and engineering teams to ensure delivery targets are achieved.
- Ensure components meet customer quality requirements and tight tolerances.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the machining department.
Machinery & Software
Experience in some or all of the following would be advantageous:
- CNC Turning / Multi-Axis Lathe Programming
- 3-Axis and 5-Axis Machines
- Fanuc Controls
- CAM Programming Software
- Hypermill experience beneficial but not essential
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience as a CNC Programmer within a precision engineering environment.
- Strong CNC Turning / Lathe programming experience.
- Experience programming 3-axis and/or 5-axis machines.
- Familiar with Fanuc controls.
- CAM programming experience is essential.
- Hypermill experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Able to work independently and take ownership of machining projects.
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.
- Confident introducing new programs and supporting new machine implementation.
