Our client, a leading provider in the defence and security sector, is seeking a Mechanical Team Leader to join their facilities management team in Portsmouth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaising with departmental Team Leads to support ship docking, waterfront services, and electrical/mechanical maintenance operations.
  • Leading the scheduling of planned, reactive, and remedial maintenance work, ensuring tasks are completed within SLA and measured against KPIs.
  • Providing technical support and advice to your team during work activities.
  • Handling delay requests with supporting documentation where KPI dates cannot be achieved.
  • Ensuring day-to-day operations are managed effectively, escalating issues when necessary.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Coordinating with the Technical Buyer to procure necessary spares for maintenance tasks.
  • Managing reactive activities to ensure a 'right first time' approach through systematic trend analysis.
  • Supporting clients' requirements and resource needs, ensuring labour is effectively allocated.
  • Driving continual improvement in customer service levels, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory obligations.
  • Increasing self-delivery through upskilling and effective succession planning.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working within an FM maintenance team.
  • Good understanding of the FMSP contract (desirable).
  • Familiarity with KPI and STO reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Computer-Aided Facility Management (CAFM).
  • Experience working with technical specifications and understanding safe systems of work.
  • Strong work ethic and high personal standards.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and adapt to changing circumstances.

Qualifications & Memberships:

  • Degree in an engineering discipline or equivalent work experience within the facilities management environment.
  • Security clearance or ability to obtain it.
  • IOSH Managing Safely certification or willingness to undertake it, with a commitment to management development training.
