Our client, a leader in the defence and security sector, is currently seeking an Algorithm Specialist to join their GCN (Guidance, Control, and Navigation) team. This permanent position will involve delivering algorithms across the full life cycle of products, from concept creation through to in-service support, focusing on both current and future Weapon and Missile Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing innovative algorithms in areas such as Control, Navigation, Guidance, Tracking, Data Fusion, and Mission Planning
  • Working on complex and exciting concepts and products within a passionate team of specialist engineers
  • Liaising with various departments, including Simulation and Modelling, Image Processing, Software, Navigation Sensors, Hardware-in-the-Loop, Systems Design & Validation, Seekers & Sensors, Datalinks, and Technical Quality
  • Contributing to the development and support of complex weapon systems throughout their lifecycle

Job Requirements:

  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience in a subject with mathematical content (e.g. Aerospace Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science)
  • Experience in algorithm research and/or product development and support
  • Domain knowledge in areas such as Flight Dynamics, Aerodynamics, Sensors, Servo Systems, Actuators, Autonomous Systems, Robotics, or Mechatronics
  • Proficiency in algorithms knowledge, including Modern/Classical Control, Navigation, Data Fusion, Tracking and Guidance, Machine Learning
  • Familiarity with tools and libraries such as Matlab, Simulink, Python, C/C++, PyTorch, OpenAI-Gym/Universe, Model-based design
  • A keen interest in innovative technologies and their applications
