Our client, an independent multidisciplinary engineering consultancy renowned for innovative and sustainable design, is currently seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to join their busy teams in either London or Bristol. This permanent position offers the opportunity to deliver and manage a wide array of projects, further enhancing skills and expanding the client base within the highways sector.
You will have a unique opportunity to gain experience across all sectors and project stages, from due diligence and feasibility through to construction. Working on a range of project sizes from small to multi-phase developments, you will play a pivotal role in contributing to the advancement of new and emerging guidelines in the built environment and construction sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing project management plans, appointment documents, financial management and invoice drafting
- Creating reports, calculations, specifications, drawings, and Civils 3D models
- Conducting site visits, surveys, inspections, and preparing detailed reports
- Representing the consultancy at design and project meetings
- Assisting in and preparing fee proposals, helping to secure new commissions
- Delegating workload, monitoring delivery, and training and developing team members
- Managing resources and health and safety risks using technical and commercial knowledge
- Collaborating with other industry bodies to drive improvements in the sector
Job Requirements:
- Accredited degree in Civil Engineering (MEng, BEng or BSc level) or equivalent
- IEng qualification with the Institution of Civil Engineers or equivalent; CEng is highly desirable
- Significant experience within an engineering consultancy environment
- Comprehensive understanding of civil engineering and infrastructure, including flood risk assessment, drainage, and highways
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidance, including Manual for Streets, DMRB, and Design and Construction Guidance
- Experience working with highway authorities and other external parties
- Proficient in using InfoDrainage and Autodesk Civils 3D
- Strong people and project management skills
