Our client, a leading defence and security firm, is currently seeking a Senior RF Engineer to join their dedicated team on a permanent basis. The successful applicant will have a key role in the development, testing, and support of RF/Microwave modules and antennas. This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in navigation, radar, and radio frequency, as they will provide essential RF/antenna design support across various facets of the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively lead antenna and RF equipment development, including internal or sub-contracted work packages
  • Maintain and improve antenna and RF designs, addressing obsolescence management
  • Oversee the derivation, verification, and validation of requirements and specifications
  • Provide technical support to the Supply Chain, Quality, Suppliers, and Customers
  • Support external antenna and RF designs and maintain production tests
  • Assist in RF module manufacture, respond to technical issues, and conduct trend and root cause analysis
  • Ensure compliance with Engineering Procedures and maintain quality through design and manufacture
  • Generate estimates, plan, and manage small work packages
  • Ensure adequate documentation is maintained in all tasks
  • Complete any other tasks associated with the role

Job Requirements:

  • Experience in PCB design at microwave frequencies, including schematic manipulation and layout definition/review
  • Expertise in RF component selection, including High Power RF amplifiers, Low Noise Amplifiers, Limiters, Circulators, Filters, Mixers, and Phase Locked Loops
  • Proficiency in RF system design (e.g., Cascade Analysis)
  • Familiarity with RF test equipment, such as Spectrum Analysers and Vector Network Analysers
  • Knowledge of antenna theory, design, and testing of array antennas, including slotted array and printed antennas
  • Skills in design for test and manufacture
  • Experience in a production environment with a good understanding of processes like SMT
  • Self-motivated team player with strong written and verbal communication skills

Desirable Experience:

  • Familiarity with Altium PCB Design Software
  • Experience with Altair RF and antenna design software
  • Understanding of radar or closely related applications, such as communications
  • Knowledge of digital electronics or power supply design
  • Experience of requirements management and/or systems engineering disciplines
  • Test automation skills (e.g., using MATLAB or Python)
  • Experience with EMC and regulatory compliance (e.g., FCC, ITU, or ETSI requirements)
