We are recruiting for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to support the delivery of major projects across the Data Centre, Industrial and Logistics sectors. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of complex electrical design packages, lead multidisciplinary project teams, and work directly with clients on high-profile developments.
The Opportunity
As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will play a key role in the successful delivery of electrical engineering solutions from concept through to completion. You will provide technical leadership across multiple projects, ensuring designs are delivered to the highest standards while meeting programme, commercial and compliance requirements.
Working closely with clients, contractors and internal stakeholders, you will oversee electrical building services design, power distribution systems, and where required, high-voltage infrastructure solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the electrical design and engineering delivery of large-scale projects within the Data Centre, Industrial and Logistics sectors.
- Manage projects throughout all design stages, ensuring quality, technical excellence and on-time delivery.
- Produce and review electrical designs, specifications, calculations and technical documentation.
- Coordinate electrical services with wider multidisciplinary design teams.
- Provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to engineering teams.
- Act as a key client contact, offering expert advice and developing strong working relationships.
- Attend and lead design reviews, client meetings, site surveys and project coordination meetings.
- Review existing electrical installations, surveys, testing reports and technical assessments.
- Ensure compliance with current British Standards, Building Regulations, industry codes and health & safety legislation.
- Support project planning, resource management and overall engineering quality assurance.
- Represent the business professionally across project and stakeholder engagements.
About You
We are keen to speak with candidates who possess:
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Strong background in electrical building services design.
- Experience leading the design and delivery of complex engineering projects.
- Knowledge of LV and HV electrical systems.
- Proven experience within Data Centres, Industrial, Logistics, Construction or Consultancy environments.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise workloads effectively.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong understanding of UK regulations, British Standards and industry best practices.
- Experience reviewing technical documentation, calculations and engineering drawings.
- Chartered status or progress towards Chartership would be advantageous but is not essential.
