Our client, a leading company in the Defence and Security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Test Specialist, Mechanical or Electrical, to join their team on a permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carrying out testing, acceptance, and maintenance of Victoria Class Submarine (VCS) systems and equipment
  • Acting as Test Director, coordinating multidisciplinary teams in the execution of complex submarine testing activities
  • Diagnosing faults, troubleshooting issues, and performing corrective maintenance to ensure system readiness and reliability
  • Providing technical leadership and oversight to Test Specialists executing test procedures
  • Resolving complex technical issues and clearly communicating risks, solutions, and impacts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Leading small- to medium-sized teams and collaborating effectively within a broader technical organisation to deliver programme objectives
  • Providing mentorship or guidance for other Test Specialists
  • Recording defects using company IT and/or Government controlled systems

Job Requirements:

  • Strong technical skills including post-secondary education; degree, diploma and/or certificate in electrical engineering technology, mechanical/electrical engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Eligibility for recognition as AScT, CET, EIT, or P.Eng. designation in British Columbia and/or Nova Scotia
  • Experience in marine, naval, submarine, or offshore oil and gas operations considered an asset
  • Hands-on experience operating, testing, or commissioning mechanical systems is an asset
  • Ability to work safely in physically demanding environments, including climbing ladders, working at heights, and operating around water
  • Strong communication skills; written, verbal, and interpersonal
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer applications
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Canadian Secret Security Clearance and ITAR clearance

  • Hydraulic systems
  • Pneumatic systems
  • Internal combustion engines, diesel, super/turbochargers
  • Mechanical linkages, alignment, rotating machinery
  • Pumps, valves, actuators, motors
  • Alternating current systems and power distribution control systems
  • Direct current control systems
  • Fibre optic applications
