Our client in the Defence & Security sector is seeking a dedicated Process Engineer for a 12-month contract at their Glascoed site. This is a unique opportunity to join a multi-disciplined team involved in the design, manufacture, and support of new products. The role is pivotal in developing manufacturing processes from concept through to commissioning and qualification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Developing new manufacturing processes in line with engineering plans and budgets.
- Ensuring compliance with industry standards for long-term process stability, including Lean Principles, Process Control Plans, and awareness of Programmable Logic Controls.
- Specifying and qualifying new equipment, and working with suppliers to meet regulatory and safety standards.
- Coordinating development activities to establish data that ensures sound understanding of materials and technology for plant and equipment.
- Managing project data files that capture process and design information, including trials data, process definitions, certification, and safety data.
- Collaborating with other engineering personnel and functions to develop a network of capable suppliers.
- Leading and supporting project activities including process reviews and capability studies.
- Presenting process status updates to line management and stakeholders.
- Staying informed of general manufacturing technologies and assisting in future technology plans.
Job Requirements:
- HNC / HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or Chemical engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- Good understanding of project and risk management tools and techniques.
- Awareness of automated controls on process lines.
- Solid technical and manufacturing knowledge, showing initiative and working well under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated professional with strong planning and organisational skills.
- Flexibility and proactive capabilities in a driven environment.
- Proficiency in using computers, including Microsoft Office.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience and knowledge of materials processing.
- Experience in manufacturing within a High Hazard environment.
- IOSH Managing Safety or NEBOSH Certificate.
- Green Belt in Six Sigma.
