Our client, a London borough authority, is seeking an EV Infrastructure & Asset Protection Officer for a contract role within the highways sector. The position will support the development and management of electric vehicle charging infrastructure across pavements, while also addressing highway encroachments and other contraventions affecting the public highway.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage applications for pavement-based electric vehicle charging solutions (cross-pavement charging channels, cable gullies, or through-pavement channels)
- Review applications against policy criteria and support the development of an effective approval process
- Help establish and improve procedures as the electric vehicle charging scheme develops
- Work with contractors to coordinate and deliver approved charging installations
- Support the development of alternative charging solutions, including car park charging infrastructure and lamp column charging
- Investigate highway encroachments and other contraventions affecting the public highway
- Carry out enforcement activities and ensure compliance with relevant highway regulations
- Communicate with residents, contractors and internal stakeholders regarding applications, approvals and enforcement matters
Job Requirements:
- Experience in electric vehicle charging points, electric vehicle infrastructure or a related highways environment
- Understanding of pavement-based charging solutions
- Knowledge of highway regulations, asset protection or public realm compliance
- Experience in reviewing applications against policy, technical or regulatory criteria
- Enforcement experience, including investigating breaches and securing compliance
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple applications and cases
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with residents, contractors and local authority teams
