Our client is seeking a Transport Planning Officer - Development to support sustainable growth and major highways infrastructure projects in London. This permanent role will contribute to the planning and delivery of residential, commercial and retail developments, helping to secure positive transport outcomes and improve accessibility, safety and sustainable travel across the local network.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise on sustainable transport and active travel solutions from pre-planning through to planning consent.
- Provide technical transport and highways input across development management and planning projects.
- Assess concept studies, Transport Statements, Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and Parking Studies.
- Prepare clear, robust written responses to support formal planning decisions and recommendations.
- Liaise with developers, local authority teams, elected members, contractors and other key stakeholders.
- Provide technical input into the approval of Section 38 and Section 278 highway designs and agreements.
- Manage projects, budgets, designs, construction schedules, permits and necessary permissions.
- Monitor delivery on site, support final sign-off and oversee handover to the highway authority.
Job Requirements:
- Recognised degree in Transport Planning, Highway Engineering or Civil Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience in transport planning, development management, highway projects, sustainable transport and active travel.
- Understanding of local authority processes, preferably within a London setting.
- Knowledge of highway and infrastructure design standards, including the NPPF, DfT Transport Assessment guidelines, Manual for Streets, DMRB and MCHW.
- Ability to manage complex development planning projects, solve problems and develop innovative solutions.
- Working knowledge of junction modelling software such as Junctions 9, including PICADY and ARCADY, and LinSig.
- IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to record and manage data accurately.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a customer-focused and professional approach.
