Our client, an established engineering consultancy, is seeking a Principal / Associate Civil Engineer to join its growing civil engineering team on a permanent basis. The role offers the opportunity to lead a varied portfolio of UK projects, including highways, infrastructure, regeneration schemes, schools, commercial developments, sports facilities, residential developments and earthworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering, highways and infrastructure projects from feasibility and concept design through to construction
  • Manage, mentor and develop engineers and technicians within the civil engineering team
  • Lead the design of highways, external works, levels, earthworks and wider site infrastructure
  • Prepare drainage strategies and design SuDS, foul drainage and surface water drainage systems
  • Review and approve calculations, drawings, models, specifications and technical reports
  • Coordinate with clients, architects and multidisciplinary design teams to deliver practical engineering solutions
  • Liaise with LLFAs, water companies, highway authorities and other statutory bodies
  • Manage project programmes, resources, fees and deliverables while supporting commercial project management

Job Requirements:

  • Chartered Civil Engineer status, or significant progress towards Chartership
  • Strong consultancy experience in civil engineering, highways, drainage and infrastructure design
  • Experience leading engineers and technicians and managing technical project delivery
  • Strong knowledge of SuDS, flood risk, drainage design and relevant UK standards and guidance
  • Experience in highways, external works, levels, earthworks and site infrastructure design
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD and InfoDrainage, with experience of Causeway Flow or similar software desirable
  • Ability to review technical work and provide clear direction to project teams
  • Strong communication, coordination, client-facing and commercial management skills
