The Junior Buyer will join a high-performing and supportive team of Buyers, with responsibility for operational purchasing tasks. These could include; raising purchase orders, expediting, updating MRP/ERP systems with supplier information, lead times and pricing.
The role would suit an experienced administrator or someone looking to develop their career within a purchasing or supply chain environment.
Specific duties of the Junior Buyer include:
- Raising Purchase Orders for both direct materials and components for manufacturing and indirect items
- Track orders, shipment dates and delivery confirmation in MRP systems
- Expediting of purchase orders through to receipt
- Supplier liaison, communication and relationship building both with UK and international partners
- Support inbound logistics, supplier returns etc.
- Maintain procurement department data in MRP and reports/KPIs relating to supplier performance
- Work with procurement team to improve and refine procurement processes
Junior Buyer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing or engineering business
- Experience in a purchasing, logistics, supply chain, administration or manufacturing role
- Previous supplier liaison and experience of placing purchase orders
- Previous exposure to an MRP or ERP system is advantageous, and previous MS Excel experience essential
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
